Protein Powder Cost per Serving Calculator Guide
Protein powder tubs can be difficult to compare because package sizes, serving counts and protein per serving differ. A simple cost-per-serving calculation gives you a more useful starting point than comparing tub price alone.
Protein powder cost-per-serving formula
Cost per serving = product price ÷ labelled number of servings.
Example: if a tub costs $59.99 and contains 30 labelled servings, the cost per serving is about $2.00.
Compare the amount of protein too
Cost per serving is useful only when the servings are reasonably comparable. Check the labelled grams of protein per serving and the serving size. You can also estimate:
Cost per gram of protein = product price ÷ (protein grams per serving × number of servings).
Hypothetical comparison
| Example | Price | Servings | Protein / serving | Cost / serving |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Product A | $59.99 | 30 | 25 g | $2.00 |
| Product B | $79.99 | 45 | 24 g | $1.78 |
| Product C | $44.99 | 20 | 27 g | $2.25 |
These numbers are hypothetical and are shown only to demonstrate the calculation. Current SuppVerse prices, flavours, sizes and inventory are shown on each product page.
Include the total delivered cost
For online orders, compare the final checkout cost rather than the tub price alone. Shipping, taxes and discounts can change the effective cost of an order. Local pickup can also affect the total cost.
Compare the same type of formula
Whey isolate, whey blends, hydrolyzed whey and plant proteins are different product formats. Compare products that fit the same shopping goal before deciding that one tub is a better value simply because its cost per serving is lower.
Check the exact flavour and size
Variant prices and serving counts can differ by package size or flavour. Open the exact variant you plan to purchase and use the current physical label for the final serving and ingredient information.

Worked Example: Tub Price vs Protein Value
This is an illustrative calculation, not a current product offer. Suppose a tub costs CAD $90 and contains 60 labelled servings, each providing 25 g of protein.
- Cost per serving: $90 ÷ 60 = $1.50.
- Total protein in the tub: 60 × 25 g = 1,500 g.
- Cost per 25 g of protein: $90 ÷ 1,500 × 25 = $1.50.
A second hypothetical tub at $80 with 50 servings and 20 g of protein per serving costs $1.60 per serving, or $2.00 per 25 g of protein. Its lower tub price therefore does not mean lower cost for the same amount of protein. This compares price only; ingredients, allergens and dietary suitability still matter.
Apply the same method to the exact flavour and size in our protein powder collection. Compare whey isolates separately from plant protein powders, and use the selected package’s label rather than borrowing a serving count from another flavour.
